Lisa Wells
Biography
Imagine a room filled with three-dimensional objects where visual differences between ceramic models and real, live models are absent. Before involving the other senses, the perception of ceramic models is reality. Lisa Wells often views many aspects of everyday life from a scientific perspective. Since her early stages of education, Lisa has been infatuated with the human body and all of its wonders. She tirelessly studied Biology from high school into her first three years of college, where she claimed Biology: Pre- Med as her major. Senior year Lisa was reintroduced to ceramics and upon switching majors to Studio Arts, the combination of both fields crafted a brand new area of interest. However, as science, society and research has evolved, so have Lisa’s interests in medicine. Surpassing the basics of human anatomy and physiology, Lisa is exploring and examining what happens when reconstructive surgery is used to aid the human body in healing. With clay, Lisa depicts moments from some of the most common surgical procedures in her largest artistic show to date, her senior exhibition, Incisions.
